Chef´s Cup 2012 Südtirol

Alta Badia (Italy, Bz)– The 22nd – 27th January 2012 sees the seventh edition of Chef’s Cup Südtirol, a gourmet and lifestyle event that brings together leading chefs from Italy and abroad, in the superb, breathtaking setting of Alta Badia.

Die Chef´s Cup Protagonisten von Alta Badia (v.l.n.r.): Arturo Spicocchi, Norbert Niederkofler und Fabio Cucchelli.

The protagonists of this traditional event are the DoloMitici, three Michelin starred chefs from Alta Badia: Norbert Niederkofler from the St. Hubertus Restaurant (two Michelin stars), Fabio Cucchelli from La Siriola Restaurant (one Michelin star) and Arturo Spicocchi from the La Stüa de Michil Restaurant, (one Michelin star), who will host friends and colleagues from Italy and all over the world.

The Chef’s Cup 2012 Südtirol is an international event that has grown and become an important appointment not to be missed amongst its gourmet stars and the media. The excellence of the chefs, the ingredients, the dishes, Alta Badia itself and a region like South Tyrol have created a long chain of events that will take place throughout the week.

The parterre of the Gran Risa – the famous Ski World Cup slope – will see the battle between top chefs at the Acqua Panna/S.Pellegrino Chefs’ Ski Cup: a skiing competition not to be missed, inaugurated by ex-national champions. After crossing the finish line guests will take part in an exciting test drive on the snow in one of the latest  Audi models (which can also be test driven on the road throughout the week) to then prove themselves with Colmar in Pitch & Putt golf on the snow. Finally, the chefs will enjoy a tasting of the Nespresso Grand Cru selection.

There will also be a traditional charity gala dinner, with this year’s proceeds going to the Dynamo Camp Association, Italy’s first recreational therapy camp with facilities specially created for children with serious or chronic conditions undergoing treatment or post-hospitalisation.

Dynamo Camp is part of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, an international non-profit making association that promotes and manages Summer camps for children and young people with serious or chronic conditions. Guest and patroness of the gala dinner is author Emmanuelle de Villepin, vice president and founder of Dynamo Camp and wife of Rodolfo de Benedetti.

To underline the focus on healthy eating that is the basis of the Chef’s Cup event, where participants firmly believe in maintaining high standards of quality, both in terms of excellent cuisine and well-being, there will be a discussion on the theme “Food as natural medicine for well-being” during the traditional round table.

Dinner at the Moritzino Club, the Col Alt Refuge and the Gourmet Safari have also been confirmed. This will involve the public in a very special dinner, during which various dishes will be served and tasted at the same time in Alta Badia’s three DoloMitici restaurants.

This year’s great new feature is the closing dinner, with the participation of five leading chefs who were the recipients of awards at the San Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2011 ceremony. An exceptional, perhaps unique evening that will see these stellar chefs work together to prepare some of the world’s best recipes.
